Collar Repair Service

$99.00

Description:
Restore your favorite shirt instead of replacing it. A worn shirt collar doesn't have to mean the end of your favorite garment.

At Railcar Fine Goods, we specialize in professional shirt collar repair, restoring collars that have become thin, frayed, or torn from years of regular wear. The fold of the collar naturally experiences the most friction against your neck, causing the fabric to weaken over time. Rather than replacing the entire shirt, we carefully restore the original collar while preserving its character and fit.

Our repair process is designed to be as discreet as possible, allowing you to continue enjoying the shirt you've already broken in.

Our Collar Repair Process

Every repair is performed by experienced garment makers in our California workshop.

Our process includes:

  • Carefully removing the existing collar

  • Reinforcing weakened areas from the inside

  • Precision fabric mending and darning of worn or torn sections

  • Rebuilding the damaged fold line

  • Reinstalling the original collar using professional construction methods

The finished repair is typically very difficult to notice, while significantly strengthening the damaged area for continued wear.

Why Repair Instead of Replace?

Many well made shirts become favorites because they have molded to your body over years of wear. Unfortunately, the collar is often the first place to fail.

Our goal is to preserve the original shirt you already love while extending its usable life. In many cases, the repair blends naturally into the garment, maintaining its appearance without the need for obvious patches or replacement collars.

Whether your shirt has sentimental value, is no longer made, or has simply become your go-to favorite, professional collar restoration can give it many more years of life.

Turnaround Time:
Railcar Denim Services offers tax-free crotch repair service, with a 4-6 week turnaround from the date the jeans are received.

The Railcar Process:

  • First we will process the shirt and inspect them before service

  • We will install a thin fabric backing if necessary to reinforce the fabric before the mending and blending sewing. This thin fabric is very thin, unnoticeable, and will help the repair last much longer.

  • Colors of mending threads will then be chosen for the repair. We will choose colors that will age well with the denim surrounding the damage area.

  • The repair will then get the threads trimmed, final inspection and shipped back to you.

FAQ:
Question: Can a worn shirt collar be repaired?
Answer: Yes. In many cases, a worn or torn collar can be professionally restored by reinforcing the fabric, mending weakened areas, and reconstructing the damaged fold line without replacing the entire collar.

Question: How do shirt collars wear out?
Answer: Most collar damage occurs along the fold where the fabric bends every time the shirt is worn. Years of friction against the neck gradually thin the fibers until holes or tears develop.

Question: Will the repair be visible?
Answer: Every repair is different, but our goal is to make the restoration as discreet as possible. Most finished repairs are difficult to notice while greatly improving the collar's strength.

Question: What kinds of shirts can you repair?
Answer: We repair denim shirts, chambray shirts, flannel shirts, work shirts, dress shirts, and many vintage garments.

Question: Is it worth repairing a favorite shirt?
Answer: If the shirt fits well, has sentimental value, or is difficult to replace, professional collar repair is often a worthwhile investment that can extend its life for years.
